A First in West Virginia. A Return in Delaware. 621d1v
It marks the very first time in history that a site has launched real money online poker in West Virginia. It is the first new state launch in the United States in over four and a half years.
It also represents the return to real money Delaware online poker after an 18-month blackout.
BetRivers has now become only the second online poker operator in the US to offer a four-state network, after WSOP. And it has achieved it in record time.
Until now, the platform was available exclusively to players in Pennsylvania, where it went live last October. With this expansion, players in DE, MI, and WV can now the action. The result: larger tournament prize pools, shorter wait times, and a wider variety of games available around the clock.“The launch of a unified cross-state player pool significantly enhances the BetRivers Poker experience,” said Richard Schwartz, CEO of Rush Street Interactive (RSI), the parent company of BetRivers Poker.
“By expanding the network, we’ll bring more players to our tables, offer a wider variety of games, and raise the stakes with larger tournament prize pools. We’re thrilled to strengthen our poker footprint and deliver best-in-class competition and community-driven play across multiple states,” Schwartz further said.
BetRivers Poker: Unique Features, Distinctive Software 34644x
The new network launches with the platform’s full suite of distinctive features, all available from day one. These include Dynamic Avatars, the HeroIQ built-in HUD, fair play auto-seating, and randomized screen names, something designed to offer a level playing field.
The platform also launches with a complete lineup of games, including No-Limit Hold’em and Omaha in both cash game and tournament formats. It also features the operator’s exclusive SNG Select, which lets players choose between traditional three-handed sit and gos or Cub3d, a spins-style game with randomized top prizes.
More game types, like the long-awaited Progressive Knockout (PKO) tournaments, are expected soon. Niche game types like draw and stud variants (which would open the door for mixed rotation games), tournament formats like Mystery Bounty, and even Short Deck appear to be under consideration
The spotlight now turns to two iconic Phils as the operator expands across multiple states — Phil Galfond, the founder of Run It Once Poker, whose platform powers BetRivers Poker and who played a key role in deg its gameplay, features, and rewards system; and Phil Hellmuth, the legendary 17-time WSOP bracelet winner.
“As poker players, we built this platform for the players – all of them,” said Galfond. “From brand-new poker players to seasoned pros, we focused on fairness, fun, unique features, and meaningful player rewards. I’ve been involved from day one to help shape BetRivers Poker into a platform that delivers the best possible player experience.”
“I’ve won more bracelets than anyone in history because I know how poker players think and BetRivers delivers what they want: real competition, big moments, and a championship experience,” said Hellmuth.
In fact, Hellmuth, aka The Poker Brat, will also appear on the newly launched PokerBratTV YouTube channel, while BetRivers Poker will maintain a strong presence on the long-running series Poker Night in America.
Fastest Growth in US Poker 4h4h5z
This expansion marks a major milestone for BetRivers Poker, which only launched in Pennsylvania in late October. In just nine months, the platform has gone from operating in a single state to four, making it the fastest expansion in the history of regulated US online poker.
It also comes with a series of firsts. It is the first operator to go live in West Virginia, the first poker platform to enter a new US market since PokerStars debuted in Michigan in 2021, and the first to launch in multiple states simultaneously. It is also the only operator to offer online poker in both Delaware and West Virginia, where it currently holds a monopoly. And BetRivers is not done yet. The site is expected to expand into New Jersey later this year, which would make it the first operator to form a five-state online poker network in the country.
By comparison, even long-established operators have been active in the US for over a decade currently operate in just two to four states. BetMGM connects players in New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania through a shared liquidity network. PokerStars runs a combined NJ-MI player pool but has yet to merge with Pennsylvania. WSOP is the only other operator with a four-state network, linking NJ, MI, PA, and NV.
BetRivers Poker network is particularly notable because it includes two states, Delaware and West Virginia, where it is the sole poker operator. Delaware, despite being the first state to legalize online poker, experienced an 18-month blackout from December 2023 till now, after 888 Holdings exited the market and RSI took over as the state’s exclusive igaming provider. In West Virginia, the launch marks the long-awaited arrival of legal online poker. Although the state legalized it in late 2023, no operator had stepped forward—until now.
